They say that learning just a bit of the Thai language will get you a long way in Thailand, and I have to agree, yes it will! However, many farangs who come over to Pattaya for their holidays are looking for one thing fun with Thai girls! And that is the long and short of it I’m afraid to say.
Do I need To Become Fluent In Thai In Order To Have A Good Time Here?
The answer to this question is an absolute NO YOU DON’T! Learning and becoming fluent in Thai is a long drawn out and tedious process that can take years, hell even most expats here in Pattaya have trouble speaking it after many years in Thailand. That I’m afraid boils down to a number of things..
1. They have Thai girlfriends that can communicate with them in English.
2. They just can’t be bothered learning Thai.
3. They have no aptitude for language acquisition.
Though number 3 is a bit harsh as most human beings are born with this feature inbuilt and some may argue that as age creeps up on us we lose this. I say it’s down to the person the way they view language learning and how much they actually want to learn another language.
I wanna Have Some Fun With The Local Thai Girls What Do I say???
Firstly just be yourself, yeah I know, if you happen to be a right royal tw*t then maybe you should possibly put on an act – but for the rest of normal society the above applies. Secondly, you’re gonna need to learn some Thai phrases – and guess what it aint that hard, especially when you are learning naughty phrases and rude words. Going back to your language learning days at school, the words and phrases you picked up the fastest were the naughty ones and swear words eight? Well it’s the same deal when you learn these phrases and vocabulary in Thai! So without further ado lets make a start!
Hello = Sawatdee krap
What’s your name = choo arai krap
My name is = pom choo + “your name”
You are so beautiful = pen suay jang
You are the hottest babe in this room = pen pooying suay thii sut yuu nay hong nee
Wow you’ve got big tits = oho mii nom yai maak
Are they false or not? = nom koong phlom roo koong jing roo plaaw
I’m getting hard = ongachaat pom keng jang leey
I want to see your pair = yak hen nom
I want to touch your pair = yak jap nom
Suck my tool = dtuut ongachat pom
I want to sleep with you = yak norn gap kun
A few tips when speaking Thai firstly use the above transliterations only as a rough guide to pronunciation, they are by no means accurate as they can not capture the sounds and tones of Thai adequately. Always get a Thai speaker to show you how to pronounce these first. Secondly I would also suggest that you learn a bit of the Thai script, it’s not as hard as it looks and it is also quite phonetical so making pronunciation a lot easier.
